New Rifle

Last weekend, my wife and I went to put on layaway a new pistol for her (S&W M&P 9mm Compact). While at the store, I saw that they had an Eddystone M1917 Rifle. This rifle had been reblued with the trigger guard, bolt, and bolt release all chromed. Also, the stock had been sporterized. They wanted $225 for this rifle. Well, I put it on layaway too.

Yesterday, I took it out of layaway and to the range. It shot better than I did. At 25 yards, I was getting shots dead-center overlapping. At 50 yards, it was much worse. I blame this on my eyesight. I was shooting at a 10″ circle. My shots were all over the circle. This is obviously my shooting. Overall, I am very please with the rifle. When I got home, I took a look at the rifling. It looks brand new.

My future plans for this rifle are:

  1. Get an S&K scope mount. This can be added without drilling and tapping the receiver.
  2. Install sling swivels.
  3. Get a non-sporterized stock to dress it up for Armistice Day.
