I Totally Agree With LawDog

The LawDog Files: Great Britain

Apparently they are know banning “replica” katanas. As LawDog has said, I’m sure the replica part is only temporary. Despite the reasoning given in the article, another quote tells what the true reasoning behind this is:

“[Barbara Dunne] …”It’s an achievement to get the weapons banned. I don’t want children to keep seeing them in shop windows and thinking it’s normal.”

A certain type of person does not want to acknowledge that the threat perceived in certain items is not the items themselves, but the wielder. In there mistaken belief, they seek to ban the objects (often out of irrational/subconscious fear of the objects).  At one time, it was normal for firearms in the USA to be sold at hardware and department stores. Since that has gone away, violent/weapon crime rates has not exactly gone down. Though I do not know how to fix it, these problems are societal and not fixed by banning items.
