Why do people insist on making victims out of others?

There have been many incidents in the past few years that have involved an armed person killing people in public places. Generally speaking, these places have been “gun free” zones by law or mandate of the property owners. Unfortunately, gun free zones only prevent law abiding individuals from bringing in firearms. There is a solution. Allow people who have undergone thorough background checks, taken courses in the legal uses of deadly force and taken tests involving the responsible handling of firearms to carry firearms in these zones. I am talking about holders of concealed handgun licenses. There have been repeated incidents in many states that have ended due to the intervention of holders of these licenses. The crime rate is incredibly low among holders of CHLs. And, it should be considered a right to be able to defend yourself wherever you are. Any honest police officer will tell you that the odds of them actually being there to protect you are small. They usually arrive to late to stop a murder.
