When Will They Learn

Congress has pushed a major energy bill. It’s key points are: (since it is politics, I have placed this behind a cut)

  1. Increased fuel mileage standards – Though a good idea. If the citizens of the USA wanted more fuel efficient vehicles, they would be buying them. Isn’t congress supposed to represent the will of the people?
  2. A six-fold increase in required corn based ethanol usage – Gee, it’s not like we aren’t already paying enough for food and fuel because of what is required make corn based ethanol. This is a foolish maneuver to gain farm votes.
  3. It is my understanding that it will quite possibly ban the incandescent light bulb – Gee, you better stock up on bulbs for ovens, stoves and refrigerators. These are all applications that LEDs and compact flourescent bulbs can’t work in. Also, be careful, if you break a compact flourescent bulb, the sight is considered toxically dangerous (mercury) by the EPA.
