Sometimes I Surprise Myself

I’m kind of proud of myself. Last night my work sent me a picture where they wanted me to add a rip to a screen on a machine. I sat down with Photoshop this morning and thought about how I was going to do this and tried a few things. Here is what I did:

1. Duplicate the layer with the image of the screen.
2. Darken the lower layer.
3. On the upper layer. I masked off a shape for the rip. This means I now had a hole in that layer showing the lower layer.
4. Added a drop shadow on the upper layer.
