I really do believe that healthcare providers should be required to make available a price sheet before services are rendered. I would prefer people get an itemized list of what the provider is billing the insurance company before any non-emergency procedure.
Can you imagine going to a mechanic and being told an oil change is $10,000? The reason that doesn't happen is that they are required to tell you up front, and they don't just bill your insurance.
