Texas Has Dropped The Draw Weight Requirement For Bowhunting
Summary: The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department used to have a minimum draw weight of 40 pounds for hunting bows. This past March, the TPWD dropped the weight. Many hunters are conceerned about animals being wounded by these less powerful bows. Mike Berger ( the head of the TPWD Wildlife Division) contacted several states that did not have this poundage requirement. None of them reported any increase in the number of wounded animals. The TPWD sees this as a way to increase the number of hunters and archery enthusiasts.
