Why I haven’t built a storage shed

I would like add a storage shed to my backyard. But, the city I live in (Garland, TX) has some antiquated codes involving doing this:

http://www.garlandtx.gov/Home/Departments/Development+Services/Building+Inspection/Accessory_Building.htm

  1. The building must be built of typical building materials. Unpainted wood, tin, plastic, plain concrete blocks, corrugated metal, plastics, canvas, vinyl or similar materials are not allowed.
  2. The roof of an accessory building cannot be corrugated metal, plastic or canvas. Roofs must be either composition shingles (if the roof pitch is at least 2:12), rolled roofing, built up roof, metal panels type R, U, S-36, 7.2, or A, or other material allowed by the Building Official.
Some of the best modern shed kits are made of plastic and include a plastic roof. They last forever, they are sturdier than the cheap aluminum sheds, and they are relatively easy to put up. I was really wanting something like this:
I really need to save up my money and move out into the country. I bought a house without an HOA in the hopes of not having these kinds of issues.
