Oh goodness, that might scare somebody.
The city of Dallas is looking into an ordinance banning some toy guns. As conceived, the proposed ordinance will prohibit:
– Displaying or brandishing a replica firearm in a public place
– Removing or obscuring the federally required orange tip on a toy gun
– Selling replica firearms from ice cream trucks
– Selling or possessing any replica firearm with a laser pointer attached
Violators could be punished with a Class C misdemeanor and a fine of up to $500. But, at least this saner than what they originally envisioned. They were originally looking at banning any toy guns that shot any projectile (Nerf guns) and requiring that they could only be white, green, orange, pink, purple or clear. Also, this ordinance only covers weapons being seen in public.
This ordinance is coming about because of a few local incidents were people were scared by kids with air-soft guns. So, the city council wants to ruin the fun for everyone.
