Wal-Mart has struck a deal with New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg to keep a record of all firearms purchases and do background checks on employees who handle firearms.

For those who don’t know, federal law requires all licensed firearms dealers to keep records of their sales. And, if it isn’t a law already, it is certainly a good idea to perform background checks on employees. This is even more important when they have access to high dollar merchandise like firearms. What’s next, will Wal-Mart next agree to obey the law of gravity?
