ConDFW Report
Badcat42077 and I spent the weekend at ConDFW (a science fiction convention). The first thing I have to say is that I was very impressed with the hotel room. It was a genuine suite. We had a king size bed in one room, and a living area with bar, mini-fridge, and a sleeper sofa. I admit that the gaming did not impress me. Only one person running a game actually bothered to ask me if I wanted to join in. The other people running games seemed more interested in having a big table to run the games for their friends.
I enjoyed the panels I went to were great. David Weber was great on the Space Combat 101 panel. Tygerr (a genuine rocket scientist) was also great on the Space Combat panel and the Mars or Bust (Space Flight 2009). I admit that my friends and wife have corrupted me, I’m definitely getting into the steampunk costuming. I went to a panel on steampunk costuming put on by the Babbage Patch Kids (here’s a link to a pic of one of their members), and really enjoyed it. I wish I had been able to attend the one on steampunk technology. I also learned something very interesting. There is a steampunk themed coffee shop opening in downtown Garland called the Generator. I am looking forward to this, since it is about 2 miles from my house.
I only took a few pictures with my pocket camera. Here are two of them:
It was great seeing all of my friends there, and meeting all of the new people. Right now, I am making a batch of spaghetti sauce from scratch.
