Another Reason To Grow Your Own Vegetables

Multi-state salmonella outbreak linked to tomatos

Summary: There have been a large number of salmonella cases tied to different varieties of tomatos. These outbreaks have hit both the Dallas and Houston areas of Texas.

My take: This is another reason to grow as much of your food as you can. It is a simple fact that many farmers (including organic farmers) spray their produce crops with unaged manure and/or sewage. This can lead to the uptake of e. coli and/or samonella. If you grow your own vegetables, you know what they have been sprayed with and what has been added to the soil.
